President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday promised to do more for the people of Rivers State if re-elected for a second term.
Addressing a mammoth crowd at the Adokiye Amasiamaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, in continuation of his nationwide presidential campaign, Jonathan thanked the people for supporting him in 2011, urging them to repeat same on February 14.
According to him, Rivers Governor Rotimi Amaechi accused him of not doing anything for the state and Bayelsa, even when others accused him of concentrating developmental projects in the Niger Delta.
President Jonathan said “This year is dedicated to the young people. We wanted to make ensure all states had federal universities and expand the capacity of school system to admit youths, that is why we built 12 new federal universities”.
The First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan while speaking earlier also thanked the rivers people for delivering two million votes to PDP in 2011, urging them to raise it to 2.4 million votes this time.
Others who spoke at the rally include Vice president Namadi Sambo, PDP National chairman Adamu Mu’azu, Governors Liyel Imoke of Cross rivers and Godswil Akpabio of Akwa Ibom, as well as the gubernatorial candidate, Nyesom Wike.
All the speakers urged the people of Rivers to vote en masse for President Jonathan, Nyesom Wike and all other candidates running under PDP.
