Senate President David Mark has finally reacted to the leadership crisis engulfing the House of Representatives, promising to defend the sanctity of the National Assembly.
The defection of Speaker Aminu Tambuwal from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised question on his eligibility to hold on to the position of Speaker.
Speaking at plenary on Wednesday, Mark, said although it is the custom of the National Assembly not to interfere in the affairs of each chambers, he cannot fold his hands and watch the unfolding event in the House of Representatives.
But as Chairman of the National Assembly, he promised to try and resolve the crisis bedeviling the lower chamber. According to him, he cannot present the crisis for discussion as the matter is already in court.
Subsequently the Senate adjourned till Tuesday, 11th November, 2014.
