Barely four days to the National Sports Federation Elections scheduled for Friday, September 30, 2021, at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, some of the milestones in the election time-table have been met, Prompt News can report.
According to the election time-table released few weeks ago in Abuja, by Federations and Elites Athletes Department (FEAD) of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Nomination Forms were released on September 15, with completed Forms submitted on September 17.
Also, the election of all Representatives from approved constituencies, except Zonal Representatives have been completed since September while the Zonal Representatives election held on September 22.
Although the time table stated that aggrieved contestants will have the opportunity to have their appeal heard on September 25 and bye elections take place on place on September 28, nothing was said where the Appeal Committee sat and where the bye elections will hold.
Meanwhile, an official of the Sports Ministry who should know told Prompt News that all is set for the 2021 National Sports Federation Elections as scheduled.
It was also gathered that the hearing of any petition arising from the election will hold on October 4, while bye elections will take place on October 6.
All duly elected Boards of the National Sports Federations will be sworn in by the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare in Abuja on October 8, 2021.
Elected Boards of the National Sports Federations will hold office till after 2024 Paris Olympic Games in France.
