Alhaji Bukar Kime, Executive Secretary, Yobe Hajj Commission, has assured that the state’s intending pilgrims for the cancelled 2021 hajj of the safety of all cash deposits made to the commission.
He said the commission, in consultation with the National Hajj Commission (NAHCOM), will communicate to the intending pilgrims on modalities of refunding their deposits.
Kime gave the assurance in Damaturu, while announcing the suspension of the orientation programme for the pilgrims which was ongoing at the commission.
On Monday, June 14, the National Hajj Commission (NAHCOM) confirmed the cancellation of the 2021 hajj for international pilgrims by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as a safety measure against the spread of COVID-19.
The executive secretary disclosed that intending pilgrims who wished to roll-over their deposits against Hajj 2022, should also await communication from the commission.
While commending the intending pilgrims for their patience and resilience, Kime also urged them to see the unfortunate cancellation as a divine arrangement.(NAN)
