By Alhaji Mohammed in Madina, Saudi Arabia Nasarawa State Amirul Hajj for the 2016 Hajj, Dr. Hassan Lawal, has commended the conduct of the state pilgrims in Saudi Arabia and urged them to maintain the tempo throughout their staying in the Holy land.
He gave the commendation on Wednesday while briefing journalists in Madina, stating that the 1,468 pilgrims from the state arrived safely and went through the screening at the immigration office without hitches.
He said the pilgrims from Nasarawa state have made Nigeria proud particularly for adhering to the rules and regulations of the Saudi authority as no pilgrim was found with any prohibited items.
According to him “We are so happy for the cooperation given by our pilgrims as you can see not a single pilgrim from Nasarawa state has been found wanting or incriminating”
Hassan Lawal who was a former Minister of Housing attributed the success to the large publicity and the warnings given by the Governor Umaru Almakura as well as the Amirul Hajj team and the board itself.
He therefore, used the medium to also commend the National Hajj commission and the state government for improving on the pilgrims welfare particularly in the area of feeding thereby urging the pilgrims to continue behaving well just as he assured the government and people of the Nasarawa state of his readiness to discharge his duties effectively.
The spokesman of the board Alhaji Abdurrazaq Muhammed also explained that the first batch of the state contingents have left Madina for Makkah on Wednesday after spending about eight days in Madina.
