Gunmen have abducted a former Delta Commissioner for Technical Education, Ms. Joan Onyemaechi, in a church premises in Asaba, Delta Capital.
Onyemaechi, a former member of the House of Representatives, was abducted during a church service.
The gunmen shot two persons, including a police orderly attached to the former lawmaker dead during the attack.
Another victim, a passer-by, was hit by a stray bullet and died on the spot.
It was gathered another police orderly and the politician’s driver also sustained gunshots injuries.
The Nation gathered that the gunmen stormed her church, King Jesus and I Church, off DBS Road, shooting sporadically.
The former commissioner was whisked away in her SUV vehicle amidst heavy shooting.
Delta Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, a Superintendent of Police, confirmed the abduction of the politician.
He said two persons, including a policeman, were killed in the incident.
He added that it was only the former lawmaker that was kidnapped. (The Nation).
