The Management of Guinness Nigeria PLC, on Tuesday inaugurated a 1.1 Kilo Metre road project in Oregbeni community in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the road formerly known as Iyoha road has now been changed to Guinness Way.
Inaugurating the project in Benin, the Managing Director, Guinness Nigeria PLC, Adebayo Alli, said the project was part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to its host community.
Alli said that the project was a demonstration if the company’s unwavering commitment to community development and sustainable progress.
“The commissioning of this more than N500 million investment is a testament to our spirit of progress agenda and our unwavering belief in the transformative power of collaborative action.
“The completion of Guinness Way represents more than just the construction of a road; it embodies our enduring dedication to creating positive change in the communities we serve.
“With every Kilometer, we have forged a path toward greater connectivity, accessibility, and opportunity for the residents of Oregbeni and the public in general.
“This road, formerly known as Iyoha road, represents the second phase of a project initiated a decade ago. It stands as a symbol of our dedication to enhancing the infrastructure within our host communities,” he said.
He said that the road beyond its physical presence, would serve a vital purpose of mitigating the impact of severe erosion and ensuring safe passage for both pedestrians and vehicles in Oregbeni community.
The managing director also said that the company had over the years, implemented various initiatives aimed at uplifting the lives of the residents in the community.
He listed the initiatives to include undergraduate scholarship scheme, Water of Life project, ensuring access to clean and safe drinking water for thousands of people in the community over the past three decades.
Others he said included the rehabilitation of roads such as Igiesota, Ighodalo, and the phased construction of Guinness Way formerly known as Iyoha road.
According to him, our commitment to empowering the local workforce through employment opportunities, and the renovation of the Oregbeni Primary School, are just a few examples of our holistic approach to community engagement and development.

He commended the state government for the approval to carry out the project and create the enabling environment for the impactful contribution to the host community.
In her remarks, the state Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Isoken Omo, commended Guinness Nigeria for the road project.
Also speaking, the community Head, Pa Joseph Iserhienrhien thanked the company for the road and other projects, adding that the projects had impacted positively on the people. (NAN)
