The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), has awarded the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) the status of an ACCA GLOBAL APPROVED EMPLOYER.
The award, according to a statement by Simeon Ubong, Senior Information Officer in OAGF, was presented to the Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris at a ceremony in Abuja.
The Global Chief Executive of the Association of ACCA, Helen Brand, who made the presentation, said it is a formal recognition of OAGF to the continuous development of finance and accounting policies and professionals.
She said the Association was impressed with the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) on implementation of accounting policies like the Treasury Single Account (TSA) and the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS); adding that the technical, structural and long lasting impact of these policies will contribute to the effectiveness of the Office and the Federal Government.
Speaking after receiving the award, the Accountant-General commended the ACCA for being a good partner in progress in the promotion of treasury activities.
He said the Association has over the years trained some staff of the OAGF, supported the development of the Federal Treasury Academy at Orozo, Abuja and played key roles during the launch of the Treasury Single Account (TSA), the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) and other key reform initiatives that the OAGF has undertaken on behalf of the Federal Government.
Idris said the award was a result of the team work of every staff in the OAGF and promised to support staff to pursue courses organized by the ACCA and to become members of the Association.
The ACCA Global Approved Employer Award conferred on the OAGF, implies that the ACCA will, among other privileges, waive the mandatory continuous professional development (CPD) requirement for ACCA members working in all OAGF offices nationwide; offer bulk discounts on globally recognized certifications designed to upscale the expertise of Accountants from across all professional bodies and support the development of finance professionals at the OAGF for both ACCA and Non-AACA members
