By Usman Santuraki, Yola Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has been commended for canvassing reform of the country’s education sector.
Making the commendation recently in Yola, Adamawa state, was Barrister Danladi Dan Asabe, Chairman of Adamawa Think Tank, a pressure group.
Atiku Abubakar, who spoke at the 10th founders day of the American
University of Nigeria (AUN), said reforming education was necessary to address insecurity challenge in the north-east.
Barrister Dan Asabe, posited that no single youth in the country should be left uneducated, stressing the need to ensure access to free universal basic education.
He opined that it takes a great leader with a clear vision to call for
total reform of the education sector, noting that Atiku deserves the commendation.
He further stressed that past leaders had not apply Nigeria’s resources well especially on education.
Dan Asabe added that the current administration of President
Muhammadu Buhari, must recognise education as the key to development of the country.
According to him, if education is given the full attention it deserves by President Buhari, it will no doubt assist the youths.
