Grammy award-winning American poet and author Nikki Giovanni has reportedly died at the age of 81.
A well-known entertainment platform, The Shade Room announced her demise in an Instagram post that attracted a lot of attention.
However, there were no details about the cause of her death, leading to questions and speculation from her fans.
In their tribute, The Shade Room celebrated Giovanni’s lasting influence, mentioning her Grammy nomination and her recognition as one of Oprah Winfrey’s “25 Living Legends” in 2006.
The post reads, “Poet and writer Nikki Giovanni has sadly passed away at the age of 81. She was a Grammy-nominated poet who was also named to Oprah’s 25 Living Legends list in 2006.”
As the news circulated, social media was filled with posts expressing sorrow and appreciation.
