Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has appointed three (3) Special Assistants namely: Mr. Peter Mbam as SA on SMEs, Mr. Chidiebere Egwu as SA on Youth Employment and
Mojibade Ekuma as SA on Finance.
According to the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Dr. Kenneth Ugbala, the appointment takes effect from the first of June, 2020.
He said the appointees must carry out their duties as expected of them, especially the SA on Finance, who is to work directly under the Governor’s office.
“These people as have been appointed and given portfolio is directed by the Secretary to the State Government to give them appointment papers and make sure they carry out their responsibilities, especially the SA on finance who is to work directly under the office of the Governor to make sure that he tracks all government approvals and ensure that all financial record of government on MDA’s expenditure is being tracked and the government and the LGA and other MDAs and being kept abreast.
“So, the new SA on finance has a lot to do. This new appointment will take effect from 1st day of June, 2020,” said SSG.
He however, noted the displeasure of the Governor and the state Executive Council members towards the ugly attitude of some appointees who have taken their duties for granted and the Governor’s manner towards their salaries as a result of their actions.
According to Dr. Ugbala, “The Governor and Exco frowned at the activities of some Executive Assistants, Senior Technical Assistants and Technical Assistants to the Governor who are not carrying out their duties diligently in line with the appointment given and equally directed that they should be taking their jobs seriously and make sure that they carry out responsibilities that is bestowed to them by the government and Governor.
He maintained for the purpose of emphasis that the Salaries of the TAs is N50,000 while their overhead is N20,000, total is N70,000; the salaries for the STAs is N70,000 while their overhead is N30,000 totalling N100,000 per month while that of EAs N80,000 basic and #40,000 overhead totalling #120,000 to be paid immediately.”
Following pending expiration of the tenure of Mr. Peter Mbam, as the General Manager of the State Community and Social Development Agency (EBCSDA), council approved Mr. James Iro as the Acting GM, effective from 1st June until further notice.
