The Nasarawa State governor Abdullahi Sule has flagged off the construction of Keffi Square and neighborhood market to improve on the revenue base of the state.
The flag off of the over N1.6 billion projects took place in Keffi on Monday.
According to the governor, the purpose for the construction of the neighborhood market is to boost the socio-economic activities of the people in that area and the entire state.
“The projects if completed will also improve on the standard of living of the people of Keffi, the state and Nigeria at large,” he claimed.
He added that “I am not just fulfilling my campaign promises made to the people of Keffi but this is a dream come true”.
The governor urged the contractor handling the job, Canonic Associates to adhere strictly to project specification.
“This project is expected to be competed at this end of this year and I urge the contractor to adhere strictly to project specifications in the interest of development” he said.
Meanwhile, the Executive Chairman, Keffi Local Government Area of the state, Alhaji Abdulrahman Maigoro, in his opening remarks thanked the governor for fulfilling his campaign promises.
The chairman promised the governor of his maximum support and that of his people.
The Consultant of Canonic Associates, Arch. Shehu Tukur assured of quality jobs while giving an overview of the project.
On completion of the projects, the neighborhood market will have over 500 locked up shops, while the Keffi square will have over 1,400 capacity seats.
