Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger state Friday commissioned the secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bida Local Government, assuring that the G7 agenda is still very much on course.
He also used the occasion to counsel politicians to always respect agreement, noting that the crisis rocking the ruling PDP is as a result of no respect for agreement by people in positions of authority.
“I have learnt to keep promise, I have learnt to keep to agreement, we must teach our children how to respect agreement and promises; although we have a ceasefire in order to make our party a better party but we need discipline in our party we need unity and above all we need democracy to be entrenched in our party, therefore the G7 governors is still on course,” he said.
Governor Aliyu however expressed optimism that the crisis rocking the PDP would eb resolved amicably, saying those waiting to profit from it would be disappointed.
He said, “we are here to commission PDP secretariat not nPDP or old PDP. I am proud that it is only in Niger state that a befitting PDP secretariat was built and commissioned by Mr. President as well as four Local governments with secretariats built by our party loyalists”.
Speaking earlier, the state chairman of PDP Abdulrahman Mahmud Enagi reiterated that the party would respect the zoning arrangement in the state.
According to him, it is the turn of ‘Zone C’ to produce the Governor in 2015, saying ‘Zone A’ has had its share during Abdulkadir Kure’s tenure while the incumbent, Aliyu is from Zone B.
His words, “Those causing disaffection should desist while calling for support from other zones to actualize the dream of ‘Zone C’. Those attending meeting to such effect are on their own, we are not in support of such jinx brought by some few individuals especially in ‘zone A’, we will never support them in PDP”.
