By Gracious Akujobi The League Management Company (LMC) organized pre-season tournament kicked off in Abuja, Friday with two matches played.
The first match of the tournament was between Enyimba FC and Bayelsa United with Enyimba running away with a 3-0 victory courtesy of hat trick from Bashir Abdulrahman in the 40, 67 and 72 minutes.
Head Coach of Bayelsa United, Ladan Bosso, at the post match conference, disclosed that the team was unable to get a couple of quality players owing to lack of funds,expressing optimism that the team will improve by next match.
“I am happy at this opportunity for us to express ourselves despite losing to Enyimba 3-0, it is an opportunity for us to prepare well for the league,” he said.
In his remarks, the head coach of Enyimba, Zachary Baraje, reveals that his determination is to win the tourney.
“I don’t think there is any team here that came here without the aim of wining. So, I am here to win the trophy.” he promised.
In the second match of the day, league defending champions, Kano Pillars were taken to the cleaners by a potent Warri Wolves side who beat them 2-0.
At the post match press briefing, the coach Abdullahi Mikaba says his side was unlucky not to win against Warri Wolves.
“We were not lucky today because we had a lot of scoring chances which we did to convert,but we will make amends in our next game.
“The main thing is that we will improve in our next game and lapses will be corrected,” he said.
Saturday will be observed as rest day as matches resume on Sunday with Enyimba vs Warri Wolves at 2.00pm while Bayelsa take on Kano Pillars at 4.00pm.
