Thirty-three of the 35 players called up by Coach Manu Garba have reported to the Abuja training camp of the Nigeria U20 team, the Flying Eagles.
Warri Wolves striker Oghenekaro Etebo, who was on club duty against Union Douala in Cameroon at the weekend, and Afeez Aremu, who featured for his club COD Lagos in a league game on Sunday, are the only players yet to arrive Abuja.
“The prompt response of the players to camp has been tremendous and encouraging. This shows a new spirit to succeed,” said team secretary Aliyu Ibrahim.
The squad is expected to begin training Monday evening at the FIFA Technical Centre in Abuja.
It will be an open screening exercise, which will allow other interested players within the age bracket to also come and try their luck. It will run for two weeks.
The six-time African champions begin their qualifying campaign against the winners of the match between Kenya and Tanzania in May.
Senegal will stage the 2015 African Youth Championship in March 2015.
