The acute scarcity of Premium Motor Spirits (PMS) commonly known as petrol in the nation’s seat of government has led to the closure of most filling stations in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja and its environs.
This is even as only the ubiquitous black marketers are having an uninterrupted supply of the products which they surprisingly sell right in front of the filling stations that are presently under lock and keys for the past one week.
Prompt News can confirm that as at the time of filing this report both big and small petroleum products retail outlets in FCT have shut their gates against customers as the fuel scarcity bites harder.
A visit to the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) mega station in the Central Business District (CBD) and many other PMS retail outlets within the Abuja metropolis showed that 99.9 per cent were not dispensing petrol.
Almost every petrol station in Wuse, Maitama, Asokoro, Garki, Gwarimpa, Apo District, Games Village, Galadimawa and others along the ever-busy Airport Road, Lugbe, Kuje, Gwagwalada, Kwali, Kubwa, Dei Dei and other FCT satellite towns have been shut down.
The story was the same at all the petrol stations within Maraba-Nyanya, Orozo and adjoining suburbs between the FCT and neighbouring Nasarawa state as they closed their gates to members of the public.
Meanwhile, the few retail outlets that have the products have jerked up the pump prices to N820 to N900 per litre at different locations in the metropolis, a situation which has left many residents devastated because of the financial implications. READ ALSO:

The scarcity of PMS in Abuja has crippled business activities especially since weekend when the filling stations remained closed and without products to dispense.
