Champions of the 2015 FCT Principals cup competition FOSLA Academy Karshi Abuja will represent the FCT in the next edition of the annual Shell Football Cup competition.
Revealing this at the weekend, the Chairman of the FCT Football Association, Musa Saeed Talle said the national competition would give the new champions of the FCT Principals cup the opportunity to exhibit their new brand of football for the world to appreciate.
Talle who spoke in Karshi Abuja at the weekend, at the formal presentation of the four trophies won by the school to their proprietor Sani Lulu Abdullahi , said “I want to tell you that we were very delighted with your brand of football, and it would be beneficial to the whole country if you are given the opportunity to exhibit this further at the national level.
“To this end, I want to assure you that your School would represent the Federal Capital Territory in the next edition of the Shell Football Cup Competition. We at the FCT FA would give you all the assistance, and you would promise us that you would not only represent FCT effectively, but would ensure that you win the trophy for FCT for the first time” he concluded.
Speaking earlier, the elated proprietor of the Academy Sani Lulu Abdullahi had commended the FCT Football Association for all its initiatives to ensure that football is developed at the grassroots. He also appreciated the administration of the FCT for the enabling environment given to the school to operate, saying that the concept of the FOSLA Academy is to provide youths who are naturally endowed in the game of football the opportunity to combine their academics with football.
He said that the school is aimed at excellence in both football and education, revealing that the School which is now in SS 2 had one of the best Junior Secondary School results in FCT in the past two years. He said that with this recent achievement in their first football competition, that that have shown that the School is purely aimed at excellence.
The former NFF President and FCT Director of Sports said his aim in establishing the school is to ensure that age cheats are eradicated in various age grade teams in country, “we want the country to have a pool of players where they can revert to at any point in time. We also want to ensure that our footballers have the opportunity of combining their careers effectively with their education” he concluded.
The presentation ceremony which was held at the school premises in Karshi, Abuja saw many dignitaries in attendance. FOSLA Academy won four trophies in the just concluded 2015 FCT Principals cup competition. The trophies include the Karshi zonal champion trophy, the most valuable player award, the highest goal scorer award, both won by Solomon Abraham and the main trophy of the competition. They scored 22 goals with Solomon Abraham accounting for 14 of the goals.
