Nigeria’s former Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Yusuf Maitama Sule, is dead.
He was said to have died in Cairo, Egypt, where he was flown to when he took ill during the weekend.
A statement announcing his death reads: “With a sorrowful heart, we announce the death of Alhaji Yusuf Maitama Sule, Danmasanin Kano this morning.
“He died in a hospital in Cairo, Egypt following a brief illness. We pray that Allah grants his soul eternal rest,” N. A Sharif said.
