By Dozzy Samuel Barely one week to the first leg of the African Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) qualifier match between Nigeria and Gambia, invited foreign-based players have started arriving the Super Falcons camp in Abuja.
Reliable striker Desire Ugochi Oparanozie who plays her club football with EA Guingamp in France was the latest to hit camp on Wednesday.
Sources close to the team revealed that China based duo of Striker Assisat Oshoala and Defender Onome Ebi are on their way to the camp this afternoon while the rest of the 10 professional players invited from abroad will join the camp before weekend.
Faith Ikidi of Pitea IF, Sweden is expected to arrive in Abuja on Saturday just as defender Ngozi Ebere who plays in Cyprus was the earliest to arrive camp about two weeks ago.
Other overseas based players invited for the crucial match in Gambia are defenders Osinachi Ohale and Josephine Chukwunonye; midfielders Halimat Ayinde, Ngozi Okobi and Captain Rita Chikwelu as well as winger Francisca Ordega.
