Ahead of 2015 election, President Goodluck Jonathan may have warned Ministers, Presidential aides and other top government functionaries to either give absolute loyalty to him and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or quit his government.
To demonstrate his seriousness, the President on Monday sacked Minister of Youth Development, Inuwa Abdulkadir, who is said to be hob-knobbing with the newly registered Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM), a party linked to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Prompt News Online gathered that the President has also directed those who may have political ambition to bow out so that he could bring those who would not be distracted by politics on board.
It was also learnt that following discovery that the former Minister of Youth Development, Abdulkadir is a strong supporter of PDM, security agencies have been directed to monitor the activities of all Ministers, Advisers, Senior Assistants and top government functionaries henceforth.
A terse statement from the Office of the Secretary to Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim announced the Minister’s sack.
The statement reads, “His Excellency Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR President and Commander –in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria has relieved Inuwa Abdul-kadir, Esq of his appointment as Honourable Minister of Youth Development with effect from the 26th of August, 2013.
“The former Minister is to hand over to the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development.
“Mr. President expresses appreciation to the Former Minister for the time he put in the services of the nations and wishes him success in his future endeavours”.
It will be recalled that the Abdulkadir, from Sokoto became the Minister of Youth Development following the redeployment of Bolaji Abdullahi to the National Sports Commission as Minister of Sports.
