By Gracious Akujobi Head coach of the Flying Eagles, Garba Manu has said that the ongoing screening exercise will come to an end on Tuesday as he picks 35 players for the proper camp.
Manu told Prompt News Online that seven of the regular U-17 winning boys are expected in camp when it resumes on April 1.
“The screening exercise has been tough because we have a pool of players who are at par in performance and that make selection difficult.
“By Tuesday, we will round off this phase of screening exercise as we await 7 of our regular players to join us in camp as we resume proper camping.”
The gold winning World Cup coach said the coaching crew will reserve places for players like Kelechi Iheancho, Sucess Issac, Musa Yahaya, Musa Mohammed and Chidiebere Nwakali who are abroad.
“My players abroad have been calling us as they want to come immediately to join us.
“We are about sending invitation to their teams so that they can be released to come join us when the proper camp commences,” Manu said.
On the venue for the proper camp coach Manu who admitted that he has screened over a thousand players said “I cannot tentatively say where the camp will be held, by Tuesday it will be clearer whether it will be Kaduna or Uyo who will host our closed door camping”.
