Unknown to the Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adewale Omirin, five All Progressives Congress (APC) members in the House of Assembly nominated one member each into the newly constituted Local Government Caretaker Committees.
Apart from the five APC lawmakers, the seven Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers in the House also nominated one member each.
Though names of the five affected APC lawmakers were not disclosed; a source who attended the meeting held by Governor Ayodele Fayose on Sunday with PDP leaders in all the 16 Local Councils in the State disclosed that the five lawmakers are supporting Governor Fayose secretly.
The source said even the Speaker will be shocked if he gets to know the identity of the five lawmakers.
Others who had the privilege of nominating members into the Caretaker Committee were the Minister of State for Works, Dayo Adeyeye, former Secretary to the State Government; Afolabi Ojuawo, former Deputy Governor; Bisi Omoyeni, Special Assistant to the governor on Environment, Bisi Kolawole among others.
The governor was said to have taken two nominees per local council, while party leaders were asked to nominate the remaining five members.
The source said the choice of Ado Local Government Caretaker Chairman, Dauda Ajise was made in consultation with Muslim leaders in the State.
