The First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, has distributed 50,000 exercise books to Zamfara primary and secondary schools children.
The First Lady, who was represented by Zamfara State Governor’s Wife, Hajiya Huriyya Lawal, said the books were distributed through the Renewed Hope Initiative of the present administration.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 30 schools were selected across the 14 Local Government Areas with two schools from each of the 13 LGs, and four schools from Gusau.
She said the administration of President Bola Tinubu has come up with different programmes aimed at encouraging the citizens of the country.
“Education which is the backbone of development has remained the top priority of the administration, and through our Renewed Hope Initiative, education has received a remarkable improvement in the country.
“The distribution of books to junior and senior secondary school students across the country and launching of Unity Fabric are part of the administration’s policies in area of education.
“This fabric represents more than just a piece of cloth. It symbolises our shared values, our diversity, and our unity as a people.’’
She called on the students to make good use of the books to complement government’s efforts.
In his remarks, Prof. Nasiru Anka, the Chairman, Zamfara State Universal Education Board, said the provision of writing materials to students was important and increased the learning achievement.
“It makes learning easy and enables students to document and note what they were taught by their teachers. It is therefore significantly increasing the learning achievement.
“Teaching and learning materials will assist students in concretising their learning experience to be more exciting, interesting and interactive,’’ Anka said.
He thanked the Federal Government for the gesture, saying that with the support, the state would excel in its education pursuit at both junior and senior secondary schools. (NAN).
