No fewer than 15 persons have died in fire outbreaks between January 2016 and January 2018, the Nasarawa State Chief Fire Officer, Alhaji Dalhatu Dogara, has said.
Dogara said in an interview with newsmen on Thursday in Lafia that 10 persons were rescued during the period.
He said that property worth over N5 billion were saved as against the destroyed property valued at N450 million.
“We received 276 distress calls from victims of fire incidents and members of the public alerting our respective offices about fire outbreaks within this period.
“Two hundred and forty six of these calls were reporting fire outbreaks while 28 were calls for rescue operations. One was a special call while one was a false call.”
