Super Eagles interim head coach, Finidi George has expressed satisfaction with his team’s victory over the Black Stars of Ghana.
Finidi’s side ended their 18-year barren run against the Black Stars with a 2-1 victory at the Grand Stade de Marrakech.
The Super Eagles were awarded a penalty on 35 minutes after Jeremy Opoku handled Kelechi Iheanacho’s shot inside the box .
Rangers forward Cyriel Dessers calmly dispatched the spot kick sending the Ghanaian goalkeper the wrong way.
Substitute Ademola Lookman was set up by Alex Iwobi for Nigeria’s second goal seven minutes from time.
Captain Jordan Ayew however reduced the deficit for Ghana from the spot deep into stoppage time.
“I am happy to win this game considering the rivalry between Nigeria and Ghana,” Finidi said after the game.
“I am happy for the players, I will keep pushing.”
The Super Eagles will face the Eagles of Mali in another friendly next week Tuesday.
