The Minister of Finance and Co-Ordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has promised the 2023 Retirees of the Federal Ministry of Finance that all their retirement benefits will be settled.
The Minister gave the assurance during the send-forth ceremony of the 2023 Ministry’s Retirees held at the Ministry, in Abuja on Thursday.
Edun, while delivering his keynote remarks said though the retirees had served meritoriously and dutifully, whatever has a beginning must have an end, adding that, an end is just a chapter.
Comminding the retirees said, “What you have, nobody can deny you or propel you to go forward in life is that you served and finished without blemish and that remains indelible in the anal of history”.
Edun pointed out that their achievements are challenges and inspiration to the servicing staff to do more, adding that, the best they put in the service played significant roles which sharpened the economy and paved way for a better future.
The Minister disclosed that it is the tradition of the Ministry to honour those who had served Nigeria and the Ministry meritoriously.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary Finance, Aliyu Ahmed in his welcome remarks, thanked the retirees for their continuous commitment, deligence and sacrifices, adding that “We cannot quantify the amount of work done to the nation and to the Civil Service”.
He advised that they should continue to create positive impacts and remain positive though retired but not tired.
The Permanent Secretary Special Duties of the Ministry, Okokon Udo, in his welcome address acknowledged the retirees’ invaluable contributions in the service, stating that it is a thing of pride that the retirees served their fatherland diligently and in good health. READ ALSO:

He added that in line with the Public Service Rule, they have weathered the storm, though retired but are still important to the country and to the Civil Service.
In the same vein, the former Director Information and Public Relations in the Ministry, Philomena Abiamuwe-Mowete, in a vote of thanks on behalf of the retirees appreciated the staff and management of the Ministry for all the sacrifices the Ministry went through in honouring and recognizing them.
According to a statement by the Ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Mr Stephen Kilebi on Friday, the event was well attended by family members and friends of the retirees, directors and staff of the Ministry.
