The Super Eagles of Nigeria dropped eight places in the latest ranking released by FIFA on Thursday, Prompt News reports.
The three-time African champions were previously ranked 36th in the world.
The Super Eagles now occupy 44th position on the ranking.
The West Africans slip can be attributed to their poor results in this month’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
Augustine Eguavoen’s side drew 1-1 against the Cheetahs of Benin Republic in Abidjan and, lost 2-1 at home to the Amavubi of Rwanda.
They also dropped from fourth to fifth position in Africa.
Morocco maintained top position on the continent, with Senegal, Algeria and Egypt in second, third and fourth position respectively.
