Nigeria troops Monday morning engaged the dreaded Boko Haram terrorists in a fierce battle at Kereto, northern part of Borno state.
The Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, who confirmed this in a terse statement, said troops of the 113 Battalion battled the terrorists.
It was gathered that the Boko Haram terrorists launched the attack in the early hours of Monday, prompting counter-attack by troops.
“The troops have been battling the insurgents since early hours of today (Monday),” Col Usman said.
Despite huge success being recorded of late by Nigerian troops, the terrorists have been carrying out pockets of attack in the north-eastern part of Nigeria.
