The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana has launched 360 sets of sporting kits for the members of the MOD sports club to complement the club’s participation at the upcoming Federal Public Service Games (FEPSGA 2022) slated for Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
Dr. Kana gave the charge while unveiling the sports kits in company of the Management Staff of the Ministry.
The Permanent Secretary noted that sports as an activity promotes healthy living, radiates friendship, patriotism and harmony among athletes, their club side, their communities and by extension their countries if the event is international.
He said sporting should be everybody’s business adding that the Minister of Defence, Gen.
Bashir Salihi Magashi has remained passionate about sports development in the Ministry stressing that the athletes featuring in FEPSGA must garner enough medals to complement the efforts of the Minister.
Dr Kana pointed out that staff welfare and wellbeing as well as training and provision of friendly working environment are being prioritized for the comfort of staff to upscale performance.
The Permanent Secretary implored the union leaders in the Ministry to always apply diplomacy in negotiations and to be purposeful in presenting knowledge based demands to Managements on behalf of members.
The Manager of the Ministry of Defence Sports Club, Comrade Olumide Collins Ofeimu while expressing appreciation to the Permanent Secretary for the brand new sporting kits remarked that the sports community has never had it better than now, adding that they would not just participate in the FEPSGA but will maintain their position as Laurel Winners.
