Former Vice President and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Atiku Abubakar expresses sadness and profound shock at the death of former Delta state governor, Chief Felix Ibru.
Atiku Abubakar describes the former governor and senator as a gentleman of high standing and a democracy icon who risked his life, properties and personal comfort to fight for the restoration of democracy in Nigeria by standing up to military dictatorship.
The Turaki Adamawa recalls that as a scion of the Ibru family, the late Felix Ibru was an epitome of honesty, decency, philanthropy and entrepreneurship, qualities for which the family is well known, through which they touched the lives of many Nigerians irrespective of tribe and religion.
The former Vice President notes that the late Felix Ibru was a detribalised Nigerian who would be sorely missed especially at this time of change under the Buhari administration, when economic diversification and indigenous entrepreneurship underpins its economic policy.
Atiku Abubakar says the late Delta State Governor and Senator fought a good fight in life and won laurels that benefitted many people for which he would be remembered for a long time.
He urges the Ibru family, the Urhobo people, and entire people and government of Delta state to take heart even as they mourn this illustrious man.
