The Federal High Court of Nigeria has announced its 2024 Christmas vacation and duty roster for vacation judges.
A circular signed by the Chief Judge of the court, Justice John Tsoho, and made available to newsmen in Lagos, stated that the court would begin Christmas vacation from Dec. 16 and end on Jan. 6, 2025.
Court proceedings for the new year are to resume on Jan. 7, 2025, in all judicial divisions, according to the circular.
“The vacation is pursuant to the provisions of order 46, rule 4 (c) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2019 (as amended).”
The circular added that during the vacation, core judicial dvisions such as Abuja, Lagos and Port Harcourt would remain open to the litigating public.
“Only matters relating to enforcement of fundamental rights, arrest or release of vessels and matters that concern dire national interest shall be entertained by the vacation judges,” it said.
For Abuja division, the following judges will sit during the vacation: Justice Emeka Nwite and Justice M. S. Liman, the circular stated.
Justices Akintayo Aluko and Justice Isaac Dipeolu would sit at the Lagos division, while Justices P. M. Ayua and Justice A. T. Mohammed would sit in the Portharcourt division, it said. (NAN).
