The dreaded Boko Haram sect is planning to attack Abuja, the Federal capital Territory Administration (FCTA) alerted religious leaders and residents on Friday.
According to the Director of Security Services of the FCTA, Mohammed M. Mohammed, the insurgents are targeting crowded places like Churches, Mosques and Markets.
To guide against this, Mohammed said religious leaders have been informed through a letter sent to the President of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam, the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria and the General Manager of the Abuja markets group.
The letter signed by Mohammed and titled: “Forewarning of Intelligence,” reads:
“Intelligence reaching this office revealed that insurgents are planning to attack the Federal Capital
“Territory. Their main targets are Worship Centres and Markets with the use of young girls as members of aid groups to carry out their planned attacks.
“It is in view of the foregoing I am directed to inform you to communicate the content of this letter to all mosques, churches and markets across the FCT for extra vigilance, particularly unknown persons dressing as aid workers loitering around the worship centres and markets.”
Mohammed went ahead to provide emergency numbers through which the police in the FCT could be reached.
The numbers are 09063872207, 09053872208 and 09053872209.
