Ahead of the 2015 election billed for April, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Abuja Chapter Thursday inaugurated an Electoral Committee to conduct election into the Executive Committee of the Association.
While inaugurating the three-man committee at the National Stadium, FCT SWAN Chairman, Kayode Adeniyi, said the election must be conducted on or before the 19th of April, 2015.
He tasked the committee to come up with acceptable guidelines for the conduct of the election, stressing that such guidelines must be flexible and all encompassing.
Adeniyi also mandated the committee to deliver a free, fair and credible election while also determining who to vote and be voted for according to SWAN status.
The FCT SWAN chairman commended members of the committee for accepting to serve in such capacity.
Africa Independent Television’s General Manager (Sports), Tunde Orebiyi chairs the committee which also has Patrick Nwogwu and Salem Akindele as members.
Speaking after the inauguration, the Committee chairman who said it was crucial to ensure that the body move in the right direction, assured of his committee’s readiness to deliver a free, fair and credible election.
“We like to assure the members of FCT SWAN the we will follow the laid down procedures and ensure that everyone is carried along”, he added.
