Participants in the Wheelchair Tennis Clinic have lauded the efforts of the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) for organizing the clinic and called for its continuity.
Some of the participants who made the plea while interacting with newsmen in Abuja at the end of the week-long training said the experience gathered at the competition would go a long way in their career.
The one week tennis clinic which was held at the National Stadium in Abuja, was sponsored by the Flour Mill PLC with over 55 participants from various states.
Muktari Mohammed from Niger State and FCT’s Louis Auta topped the male and female singles while Ibrahim Sadiq and Rose Daniel were runners up for the male and female singles.
Coach Ishiaku Kwange from Niger State said the clinic was a very good idea from the Federation and it has helped the players to improve on their knowledge and techniques of the game.
Kwange said he was happy that athletes from Niger performed well in the practical aspects of the clinic as the trained twice daily.
Meanwhile, President of Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) Sani Ndanusa, in his closing remarks appreciated the participants for a good game and their commitment to taking the sport to a new dimension.
“I must specifically appreciate the participants because most of them came not knowing what will happen, Most of them where motivated by the fact that it’s a new dimension”.
According to him the Federation was using Tennis as a rehabilitation strategy in repositioning the physically challenged as they had so much to over to the society.
