The FCT Minister Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has urged residents of the Federal Capital Territory to spread the gospel of love, tolerance and peaceful co-existence as the nation celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ (Christmas).
The Minister gave this charge today in an address to mark the 2014 Christmas celebration.
Mohammed congratulated the residents, particularly the Christians on this spiritual occasion and remarked that the celebration calls for sober reflection as well as emulating the exemplary live of Jesus Christ.
He charged residents of the Federal Capital Territory to re-dedicate themselves to the service of God and humanity to make the World a better place.
The Minister while expressing gratitude to God for the privilege and mercy He has granted us to join Christians in other parts of the World to commemorate this auspicious day in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility, also urged Christians to imbibe the virtues which Christ lived for.
He appealed to all residents of the Federal Capital Territory to continue to be good neighbors to their fellow residents, irrespective of religious beliefs; saying that the “best in the sight of Almighty God is the most pious”.
Mohammed asked residents to make a firm resolution to commit themselves to selfless service to the growth and development of the Nigeria.
The Minister also enjoined residents to continue to supplicate to God for the well being, peace and prosperity of our dear nation as well as the leadership of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
Mohammed assured residents that the year 2015 would be a prosperous year in the Federal Capital Territory as the government is more than ever determined to move Abuja to the next level.
“The FCT Administration would continue to discharge its statutory responsibility to all residents of the Federal Capital Territory especially, in the protection of lives and property,” the Minister added.
Meanwhile, Mohammed equally admonished residents to eschew violence during and after the 2015 General Election; insisting that Nigeria must remain a united and indivisible country.
He emphasized that peace is paramount for the development of any nation.
