FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello has congratulated Muslim faithful across Nigeria, especially those resident in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja as they mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir.
The Minister in a Sallah Message urged Muslims to use the occasion to reflect on the lessons of the festival and the teachings of the doctrine of Islamic faith, which is premised on sacrifice and peace.
He specifically recalled the story of Prophet Ibrahim’s attempt to sacrifice his then only son, which culminated into the celebration of Eid-al-Adha to commemorate his (Ibrahim or Abraham’s) willingness to follow Allah’s (God’s) command to sacrifice his son.
Malam Bello emphasized that the occasion should also be used to foster unity by making exemplified sacrifice amongst all in the spirit of the sacrifice made by Prophet Ibrahim culminating into the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir.
The Minister stressed the importance of selfless life of love and sacrifice by the people based on the principles behind the Eid-el-Kabir and therefore called on all residents of FCT to be law-abiding as his Administration strives to implement the Change Agenda.
While thanking Allah for being alive to witness this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration, Malam Bello enjoined all Nigerians irrespective of their religious and political inclinations to continue to live in peace and harmony with one another; advising that “we should be our brothers’ keeper.”
The Minister re-echoed the FCT Administration’s strong determination to strengthen enduring institutions for the emergence of a dynamic, orderly and all-inclusive Federal Capital; adding, “we must see Abuja as our collective heritage”.
Malam Bello appealed for greater unity, love and peaceful co-existence among Nigerians as well as total support for President Buhari’s administration in its fight against corruption and plans to grow the economy and take it out of recession; adding that better days are ahead.
In the spirit of the season, the Minister further called for prayers for the success of the country’s leadership under President Muhammadu Buhari, for Allah’s guidance, protection and wisdom to steer the affairs of the nation.
