Gracious Akujobi In a bid to have a very successful first season in the Nigerian Premier League, FC Taraba is moving ahead to beef up its team with the capture of Enyimba FC striker, Saviour Fidelis.
The deal to sign the player was completed on Thursday in Jalingo and he is being expected to join the team immediately as they put finishing touches to their preparations ahead of the season.
Chairman of FC Taraba, Tijani Babangida expressed delight with the capture of the player who is well experienced in the Nigeria Premier League.
He stated that he expects the player would bring his wealth of experience to bear as they compete in the Nigeria Premier League for the first time.
Babaginda had said after the last friendly matches which saw the team lose 1-0 to Lobi Stars of Markudi, 2-1 to Rangers of Enugu, they were going to work on bringing in more players to fortify the areas they have noticed that needed to be strengthened.
“We are happy we were able to capture Saviour Fidelis from Enyimba. He is an experienced striker who will add to the quality of the team. I said that the purpose of the friendly matches is not to win but to identify the areas we need to work on before the league commences. We hope to bring in more players before the season begin,” Tijani said.
FC Taraba is billed to take on Nasarawa United at home in the first match of the 2013/14 Globalcom league season, and TJ as he is fondly called says they are looking forward to the match.
“Our desire is to be able to win our first match, once we can do that we know we have began well and we will look forward to the season with great hope,” he said.
