New entrant in the Nigeria Premier League, FC Taraba have continued their good form at home as they dispatched El Kanemi 1-0 in the week three match played in Jalingo on Saturday.
El Kanemi came into the match with a very strong pedigree having narrowly missed the title last season and they began the match controlling the midfield and striving hard to get the first goal.
But, the Coach Ndubuisi Nduka-led boys held on to the onslaught till the end of the first half. The FC Taraba boys however came into the second half with renewed determination and vigour they then took the fight to the Maiduguri-based team.
The pressure paid off in the 76th minute when Iyorhe Lute scored the only goal of the match with a very good volley.
Speaking after the match, FC Taraba Chief Coach, Ndubuisi Nduka expressed satisfaction with the doggedness of his boys, saying that the goal came as a result of the hunger by the boys which they displayed in the second half.
He noted that after observing the first half and noticed that his boys were making silly mistake because of their zeal to score, he told them during the half time that all they needed to do was to put the ball on the ground and not be unduly in a hurry to score.
Nduka maintained that FC Taraba would be a far better side by the fifth week of the league. “What I can say is that our team is getting better with every match. And I want to assure that by the time we get to the fifth week we would even be stronger than this,” he said.
FC Taraba now have six points from three matches.
