The family of Mrs. Adiat Abiola Babatanisewu is pleading with the public to help locate their 56-year-old mother, who has been missing for nearly three weeks after leaving her residence in Harmony Estate, Aboru, Lagos State.
According to the family, Mrs. Babatanisewu disappeared on December 17, 2024, and has not been seen or heard from since. Her son, Abiodun Babatanisewu, told PUNCH Metro on Sunday evening that despite extensive efforts to find her, there has been no trace of her whereabouts.
He explained that his mother had been struggling with health issues, including insomnia and other ailments, for which the family had been providing treatment before her sudden disappearance.
Abiodun recounted the events leading to her disappearance, stating, “On that day, one of my uncles sent her some money, which my father delivered to her. Later, our youngest sibling was sent to buy groceries, but by the time he returned, my mother had already left the apartment.”
He added that Mrs. Babatanisewu told her daughter’s fiancé that she was stepping out briefly to get something nearby but never returned.
The family filed a police report on December 18, 2024, at the Oke-Odo Police Division. Chief Superintendent Nathaniel, the Divisional Police Officer, confirmed that the case had been escalated, stating, “We relay such complaints to our control room, which informs other divisions to check if the missing person has been detained or involved in any incidents.”
Abiodun expressed the family’s growing concern for their mother’s safety and urged anyone with information to come forward.
“We are deeply worried and just want to find her safe. If you have any details about her whereabouts, please contact 07088672562 or 08028467182,” he appealed.
The Babatanisewu family remains hopeful that with public support, Mrs. Abiola will be found soon.
