A 44-year-old man, Olufemi Ololade was on Wednesday docked in an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, for allegedly impersonating a lawyer.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that defendant of undisclosed address is charged with impersonation.
The defendant , however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi, admittd the defendant to bail in the sum of N1million with two sureties in like sum.
Ogunkanmi said one of the sureties must be a Civil servant on GL 14, while the second sureties must be a blood relation.
She adjourned the matter until Aug. 6, for trial.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Cpl. Akeem Akinloye told court that Ololade between March 2022 and February 2024 , was alleged to wilfully used the title of a legal practitioner on social media sites..
Akinloye said, ” the defendant within the jurisdiction of this court, allegedly paraded himself to be a lawyer on Facebook, Telegram and WhatsApp.
” Defendant allegedly also pasted a Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) sticker on his Honda vehicle with Registration No : JJJ 979 JD
” Ololade falsely represented himself as a legal practitioner by sending his pictures in legal attire to one Victoria Olabode wit intent to defraud her ” he said. READ ALSO:

Akinloye said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 484 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000
NAN reports that section 484 stipulate that if the defendant is found guilty, he is liable to three years imprisonment.(NAN)
