Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has tasked National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), to expose suspected drug dealers operating in the state.
Mohammed gave the charge during a courtesy visit by Mrs Maryam Challang, NDLEA’s Commander in charge of Zone C, on Wednesday in Bauchi.
He urged the agency to submit list of suspected drugs dealers operating in the state to his office, for necessary action.
The governor stressed the need for the agency to adopt proactive measures to enhance the campaign against drugs and substance abuse in the country.
He said that his administration had incorporated the agency into the state security council to strenthen anti drug activities in the state.
The governor who decried spate of rape cases in the state, attributed the menace to drug abuse.
In her remarks, Challang, commended the governor for his moral and logistics support to the agency.
Challang urged the state government to provide the agency with operational vehicles and furnish its office accommodation to enhance its operation in the zone.
She further advocated for introduction of drug abuse-related subjects in school curriculum, to educate the youths on dangers of drug abuse. (NAN)
