The first son of late Emir of Kano, Sunusi Ado Bayero, the Chiroman Kano has emerged the new Emir of Kano, succeeding his father, Ado Bayero.
Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwakwanso, had promised that a new Emir would emerge today when the kingmakers paid him a condolence visit on Saturday.
Ahead of the announcement, security operatives were placed at strategic areas to prevent breakdown of law and order.
Prompt News gathered that the kingmakers comprising the Makaman Kano, Sarki Ibrahim, the Sarki Bai, Alhaji Adnana, the Sarki Dawaki Mai Tuta, Bello Abubakar, and the Madakin Kano Yusuf NaBuhari, had recommended the first son of late Emir, Sanusi Ado Bayero to succeed his father.
The kingmakers had shortlisted four persons, two from the Sanusi dynasty including former CBN Governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, and two from the Ado Ruling House.
However, it was gathered they urged Governor Rabiu Kwakwanso, who reserves the right to pick the Emir, to announce their choice, arguing that the Chiroman Kano, would be a stabling factor.
