Everton manager, Frank Lampard has revealed that the club is close to finalising a new contract for Alex Iwobi, reports Prompt News.
Iwobi has played a prominent role for the Toffees this season after a difficult start to life at the Goodison Park.
The Nigeria international has featured in every minutes of Everton’s 15 Premier League games this season.
The 26-year-old has scored one goal and provided five assists this term.
The midfielder’s current contract will expire in 2024.
Lampard was asked at a pre-match press conference to provide an update on contract talks for Anthony Gordon, Iwobi and Jordan Pickford and how close to an agreement with any of them.
The Englishman told reporters: “Close. That’s the update. All good. We’ve got hopefully a situation where we want the players to stay and they want to stay here. It has always been the feeling so we’re very close.”
