The Kano Emirate Council has refuted the allegations that Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II has spent N6bn of the emirate’s fund since he assumed office.
A senior official in the emirate council, Bashir Wali, at a press briefing in Kano on Monday explained that the emirate has only spent N2.9bn since Sanusi emerged emir in June 2014.
Mr. Wali, who is also said to be in charge of the emirate’s finance, added that that Emir Sanusi inherited N1.9bn and not N4bn as stated in some media reports.
The explanations by the emirate council follows reports on the social media that the Kano State anti-corruption agency is set to investigate the council over the claims it spent N6bn in three years.
