All is calm across Ekiti state hours after the electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) made a declaration of the winner of the Saturday’s 2022 Ekiti State Governorship Election.
The candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Abayomi Oyebanji polled 187, 057 votes to beat his closest rival, Engr.
Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) who got 82, 211 votes while Bisi Kolawole of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) received 67, 457 votes to place a distance third position.
Prompt News reports that residents of Ado Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti state have accepted the result of the election in good faith as people were seen early this morning (Sunday) going about their businesses.
A drive around the Ado Ekiti metropolis Sunday morning by this reporter showed no sign of disturbances in any part of the city even as some people were seen going to their places of worship.
It was however gathered that there has been jubilation in the camp of the winner of the election, Oyebanji as his supporters within and outside Ado Ekiti were said to be celebrating the victory of their candidates while there is gloom and sadness in the camps of the losers.
