Augustine Eguavoen has said he will not rule out himself from becoming the permanent coach of the Super Eagles.
Eguavoen, 56, is leading the Super Eagles at the AFCON in Cameroon on an interim basis with Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro set to take over the team for the 2022 World Cup playoffs in March.
He was asked at today’s pre-match press conference if he would be interested in being the substantive coach of the Eagles.
“If they gave me the job, why not?” he answered.
“These questions have come many, many times, but I’m very happy with the position I occupy with the Nigeria Football Federation.
“Yes, if they asked me for it, yes maybe, just maybe and when we get to that river, we will cross it.”
Eguavoen was previously in full charge of the Super Eagles at the 2006 AFCON in Egypt, where the team placed third.
