Super Eagles interim head coach Austine Eguavoen has hailed his team’s display in Friday ‘s friendly win against Cameroonian champions Cotonsport.
The Super Eagles won the contest 2-0 with captain Ahmed Musa and Samuel Chukwueze getting the goals.
“They were impressive. We played two sets of teams, first half 11 players and second half another set of players just to see how they fare and cope with the weather conditions,” Eguavoen told NFF TV after the game.
“We struggled a little bit with the weather.
“We were impressed with the ball possession and movements.
“And to — this game was a good thing for us.”
Eguavoen however said the team will need to work on some aspects of the game before their opening game Tuesday against Egypt.
“The boys played to instructions, but at some point they didn’t because of fatigue,” he pointed out.
“The ball movement was good, but as the game progressed you could see fatigue setting in and they slowed down.
“In front of goal, we were too few (players).
“Crosses were coming, we had the ball possession, we played to the sides, which is out strength, but we arrived in the box with fewer players.
“That we have to work in the next few days.”
