BENIN-CITY: The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Gubernatorial Candidate for the September 10 governorship election in Edo State, Earl Osaro Onaiwu has officially flagged-off his campaign.
The event which was held on Saturday 30th July, 2016 at the Urhokpota Hall, King Square, Benin-City was well attended by thousands of residents, supporters and party faithfuls across the State and beyond.
The Executive Governor of Anambra State and National Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA),Willie Obiano led a delegation of party chieftains to the event to show solidarity for the Osaro Onaiwu Solution Agenda.
Earl Osaro Onaiwu assured party faithful, supporters and the people of Edo State of his resolve to bring a lasting SOLUTION to the State. Mr. Onaiwu seized the opportunity to unveil his Seven Pillars Solution, a policy document centered on Security, Youth and Women Development, Education and Health Care, Trade and Commerce, Infrastructure, Tourism/Hospitality and Agriculture, which he believes will act as a blue print in achieving his set goals for the State. He bemoaned the current state of insecurity in the state, stressing that without adequate security of lives and properties, businesses will not thrive.
Earl Onaiwu seized the opportunity to present his running mate and Deputy Governorship candidate, Mrs. Gladys Oyemen Okpebholo. He described his choice for a female running mate as a well thought out decision in order to give women in the state a strong voice, as women stand as a strong voice and pillar in every home. He called on Women and Youths from the state to rally behind them to achieve greater things together.
“Today, I’m proud to present my running mate to you all (a woman), in the history of Edo State, never has a major political party presented or given a platform for a woman to become it’s Deputy Governorship candidate. Therefore, I’m calling on every one of you to drum support for us to bring the SOLUTION to your doorstep.”
An high point of the event was the official presentation of the APGA flag to Earl Osaro Onaiwu, as the flag bearer of the party in the forthcoming governorship election in the state. The flag was presented by National Chairman of the Party, Dr. Okoye and assisted by Governor Obiano who also serves as the National Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). Governor Obiano charged the people of Edo State to take up their destinies and deciding their future by voting for Earl Osaro Onaiwu in the September 10 governorship election in order to replicate in the ongoing Transformation in Anambra State.
Also speaking at the event, the National Chairman of the Party, Dr. Okoye passed a vote of confidence on Earl Osaro Onaiwui, describing him as the only candidate in the forthcoming election that can bring the desired SOLUTION to Edo State. In his remarks, Honourable Labaran Maku, National Secretary of the Party, called on the people of Edo State to safeguard their votes come September 10, describing Osaro Onaiwu as the only candidate if elected, that can ensure that salaries are paid as at when due.
Earlier, the delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Palace of the Crown Prince of Benin Kingdom (The Edaiken N’Uselu), HRH Prince Eheneden Erediauwa to officially inform him of Osaro Onaiwu’s ambition and seek his royal blessings.
Among party chieftains that attended the campaign flag-off were Chief Willie Obiano (Executive Governor of Anambra State), Dr. Nkem Okeke (Deputy Governor of Anambra State), Dr. Ike Okoye (APGA National Chairman), Hon. Labaran Maku (APGA National Secretary), Chief Victor Umeh (Former National Chairman of APGA), Alhaji Sanni Shinkafi (Former National Secretary of APGA), Mr. Patrick Anethua (DG, Osaro Onaiwu Campaign Organization), Elder Godfrey Ehimhen (State Chairman of APGA) amongst other State and National officials of the party.
