Host nation Qatar lost 2-0 against Ecuador in the opening game at the 2022 FIFA World Cup on Sunday.
The Asians were the first host nation to lose the opening game of a World Cup following the defeat.
Qatar were comprehensively outplayed throughout their first-ever World Cup match.
Ecuador captain, Enner Valencia had a goal controversially ruled out for offside on three minutes.
Valencia however scored the competition’s opening goal from the spot on 12 minutes.
The Fenerbahce star added the second with a brilliant header a minute after the half hour mark.
Qatar will face Senegal in their next game, while Ecuador will do battle with Netherlands.
