Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi who is seeking re-election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Thursday, accused the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Sen. Sunny Ogbuorji of importing thugs into the state to disrupt election.
Umahi disclosed this known in a live broadcast, urging him (Ogbuoji) to join other 26 governorship candidates of various political parties who stepped down for him (Umahi) last week to avert bloodshed of innocent Ebonyians in the forthcoming governorship and House of Assembly election, scheduled to take place on Saturday.
“If the security agencies are impartial, there will be no violence and destruction of lives and property in the next Saturday election.
” I was informed that my brother, Sunny Ogbuorji is planning to import thugs to destabilize the election, to kill people so that the election will be cancelled.
“There must be no undo cancellation of election results in the wards and I condemn any act of violence against any INEC officials in the state” he stated.
In a swift reaction, the governorship candidate of APC, Sunny Ogbuorji who spoke through his campaign director general, Senator Antony Agbo, said his party has no such time to engage in a war of words with the governor.
